WHY PLANT TREES?
Planting trees is not just about offsetting carbon emissions. Yes, trees help clean the air we breathe, but that’s not all. Trees also filter the water we drink, reduce the risks of soil erosion, protect groundwater supplies, create shade and shelter for crops and livestock, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests also have a significant social impact and provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Planting Trees is just one of the ways you can help. There are also many other things you can do to make meaningful changes.
Few tips to reduce carbon emissions:
- Turning your thermostat down by 2 degrees.
- Wearing clothes more than once before washing them.
- Switch to a renewable electricity supplier.
- Bike, walk, or ride the bus to work!
- Switch over to LED bulbs and smart appliances.
- Items left on standby can use up to 85% of the energy they would use if entirely switched off.
- Try buying local, seasonal fruits and vegetables.
- Use waxed cloth instead of plastic wrap for food.
- Remember your reusable bags, mugs, and cutlery for all outings.
- Take your phone charger out of the wall. It uses energy even when it’s not charging your phone.
- Eat less meat.
WHERE DO WE PLANT

This package assumes that the average person uses 50kg of single-use plastic per year. The carbon footprint of plastic (LDPE or PET, polyethylene) is about 6 kg CO2 per kg of plastic.
The most common tree species that we plant are Pines Patula, Griveria Robusta, Croton Microstrachas, Rauvolfia Caffra, Albizia Schimperiana, and Markhamea Lutea. On average these Tree species offset 300kg of Co2 in their lifetime. Lifetime CO2 offset represents the total estimated amount of CO2 the tree will accumulate throughout its lifetime. To keep a simple estimation model, this period corresponds to the most significant years of the tree’s volume growth.
